Celebrating Dr. William Lloyd Hitt Posted December 23, 2018 by Tuna Canyon Detention Station Coaliation


Board members and friends gathered at the Smoke House in Burbank on December 6, 2018, to honor retiring chairman of the board, Dr. Lloyd Hitt. Family members who came were Jeanette Draney and Robert and Trish Hitt.
Field deputy Mary Benson who discovered the dark WWII history in 2012 returned for the special occasion. Former Councilmember Richard Alarcon spoke about Tuna Canyon’s importance today. Mayor Eric Garcetti sent a certificate presented by Vice President Kanji Sahara. Field deputy Eve Sinclair presented a certificate from Councilmember Monica Rodriguez. Four oak trees will be planted on January 11, 2019, in memory of Lloyd and Marlene Hitt’s work for the community.
